Eu olhava para os corpos que se moviam naquele caos hipnotizares de adolescentes inexperientes e cheios de desejo. A especialidade do colégio Covigton era transformar a formatura em piada. Para piorar, era o dia do meu aniversário de 17 anos. Que diabos eu estava fazendo ali? Uma formatura tinha que ter vestidos de verdade e uma banda ao vivo, e não aquelas roupas horríveis, músicas gravadas e serpentinas. E o meu aniversário deveria ser... tudo menos isso. - Tem certeza que não quer dançar? - Adam gritou no meu ouvido, com o seu hálito adocicado. Tentei não mexer meu rosto. O meu olhar estava fixo no relógio ao lado do achar do ginásio. Me perguntei se ficar ali por uma hora era tempo suficiente. Eu não queria levar uma bronca do meu pai. A musica estava chata - era sempre a mesma batida se repetindo. Nada de interessante nos últimos quarenta minutos. E o volume do grave estava alto demais.
