The air hisses with a dry heat. Withered trees stick up from the clutches of sand, large, sandstone formations stretch over this desolate place. I awaken, my long black hair tied into a short ponytail. Sand sticks to my hair and scratch against my caramel eyes. The sun beats down hard on my tan skin, the buzz of a desert around me. My memories are foggy, how did I get here? It doesn't matter now, my throat already stings for water. I am Ronan Lycan, and I Am Alone.

10 seconds, and Katelyns secret is exposed. Katelyn, a student at Phoenix Drop High, seems like a normal rossome student to everyone else who attends there. She has many friends, a pretty good reputation, and even her own house with a private beach. The thing is, everyone thinks that she's just normally scared of water. But the real problem is, is the second she touches even one drop of water, she'll only have 10 seconds to hide before re she turns. Into a mermaid. Katelyn has to hide on land in her human form, because the pirates at seas has killed many of her kind, so it's to the point where mermaids are almost extinct. The thing is here is the humans on land all have a big problem with mermaids. So hiding this secret isn't as simple as it may seem when word gets around a mermaid is staying at their school. In almost no time, security at the school is raised, and anyone acting suspicious will be interrogated. They have such a big problem with mermaids because about a 100 years ago the mermaids killed the humans king and queen. Little does Katelyn know, one of her friends found out her secret. And the results of this were shocking. Will Katelyn be able to keep her secret?

"Let's play a game," he whispers playfully into my ear. I hum and turn my head, "Twenty-two questions?" I ask instantly, a grin tugging at the edges of my cheeks.
