A Song of the Cursed Sky
as sung by Hagung of Shinar
Hear now, you wanderers, tarry and stay,
Beneath cursed heavens where shadows hold sway.
In Bölvgeard's breath where the old stories cling,
The dead do not sleep-and the lost spirits sing.
From Philzöb'ogar's vast and forgotten expanse,
Where fate twists unseen in a perilous dance,
There gleams a bright whisper, a shard from the sky-
Corcaelus, they name it... though none answer why.
The Heart of all Heaven, the light and the flame,
A gift-or a doom none dare rightly name.
The wise men pursue it, the power-drunk chase,
While ruin walks softly a step in their place.
Oh, mark now this telling, remember it well:
Not all who wield magic are favored or fell.
For Casters awaken by whim, not by right-
While most wander blind in the absence of light.
But darker the fate of the cursed and exiled,
The bearers of seals by the heavens reviled.
The branded, the broken, whom all worlds cast out-
The whispered, the feared... the ones sung about.
Five souls now wander where the hot sands moan,
No kin to the living, no claim to a throne.
Bound not by glory, nor mercy, nor gold-
But a mark none can sever, a fate none can hold.
Yet heed this, dear listener-lest hope lead you blind:
For hunters move swifter where dark powers bind.
The Herecös stir in the depths far below,
With runes carved in silence no mortal should know.
From Jotunnthar's abyss where no light dares remain,
They bargain with horrors and beckon their chain.
For something long buried now calls to be freed-
And Corcaelus answers... to hunger and greed.
So drink while you may, and laugh while you can,
For fate is no servant to beast, god, nor man.
The road leads to Shinar, where all tales converge-
And under cursed skies... even legends may purge.
