Dear Diary,
Do you remember 'Boy With No Name'? Yes? Well, now he's in our wagon. I know! I can't believe it! I have a BOY in our wagon! A real BOY! Unfortunately however, his presence here isn't exactly... oh, how should I put it? Licit. Meaning that Papa doesn't know about it. Don't ask me what I was thinking because I truthfully don't know. I DO know it was a silly idea and I am very much regretting it right now. Although, this is quite exciting. I feel like a smuggler! I read a book once about a smuggler- until Papa took it away because he said I was too young.
Anyhow, I met him again this morning at the stables (still in Bannwich of course). He had stolen something again, or a few things rather, and was in hiding. Typical. I told him that he's not a very good thief yet he claims he is "the best in town". He's awful vain if you ask me, but he looked so sad and sorry when he offered me my barrette back as a trade. How could I say no to that? Now we're on our way to Transby and I've hidden him in the back. I'm so nervous though! I keep imagining what will happen should Papa find him. I'll be in such big trouble!
Oh! Oh! Papa is trying to peep into my diary! I'll have to continue this later. He's asking me what I'm writing! And now I have to lie again and I HATE lying. "Boy With No Name" is absolutely my first and LAST stowaway. My poor little heart just can't take it!
I'll write to you soon.
Yours Sincerely,
Tilly Whintle
