My chest, always my bloody chest. It was so flat. Why couldn't it be curved? I hated it. It made me feel so uncomfortable. I really was tired of it. It was always the same, when I looked into the mirror. But was it normal to feel that way for man? I am writing this to show how it feels to be born in the wrong body. It truly is a terrible feeling. I had help of one my friends, Cedric, he is transgender (ftm), like me. He helped me with names too. And another friend, Sabine, corrected it after I wrote it. So yeah, thanks a lot.

My name is Jamie Hattchet. I'm fourteen years old and a trained actor/pickpocket. My life was pretty normal until I found the pocket watch. After that everything sort of spiralled out of control and my dad and I were flung through the pages of history (and the future), meeting all sorts of people; friends, foes, celebrities and things. All we wanted to do was to get back to our normal lives, to perhaps start afresh. I could do school and Dad could get a proper job, stop killing people for once. No such luck. Time is a harsh mistress. My name is Jamie Hatchett and this is my story.

Fire Lookout Towers were built in the beginning of the 20th century on high peaks and trees, with the sole purpose of using human eyes to determine when and where a fire was developing. These towers were often in the middle of mountains and forests, far into wilderness areas. The Forest Service would pay seasonal employees over the summer to hike to lookout towers, where they would remain in solitude, their only contact a two-way radio to the ranger station. Watchtowers were most prevalent throughout the 1930's through 1950's, after which they began declining due to increasing technology until the 1990's, at which point lookout towers fell into disuse. Today, few remain, and those that due are often hiking trails. - After leaving his job in the American and British armies as a computer scientist, George Davidson had few prospects in life. Searching for a place to stay and escape his life back in Britain, he finds a job offering through the US Forest Service to be a fire lookout. The job included hiking through the Cascades, one of the harshest mountain ranges in the world, and spending the entire summer isolated in a small hut on a mountaintop. He immediately applied, and upon receiving a letter he'd be going to Desolation Peak, used his remaining savings from the army to buy a plane ticket to Seattle, Washington and headed into the woods. - Based on the writings and experiences of Jack Kerouac and the life story of Alan Turing, an AU where George is a computer science for the army in 1954, who seeks to escape society to the mountains. A dreamnotfound short fic, discussing period-specific homophobia and the mountains.

My name is Alan Turing. I am 17 years old, and I go to the Sherborne school in Dorset, England. It's a boarding school for boys, just like me, though there is a thing which makes me different. I'm going to finish school next year and then I'm going to study in Kings College, Cambridge, on a scholarship. But this story isn't about me, it is more to process my feelings towards my dead friend, Christopher Morcom. (Happy 110 birthday to Alan Turing, he has done such great things in his sadly short life! May he rest in peace <3) Let me know if you like this story and if I should continue with it
