Alina has known since she was young that her soulmate was centuries older than her, had been known by many different names but she always knew one thing for sure he was the Darkling. The only one in Ravka, the only one that had ever been in Ravka. So she prepared for the one day she would meet him knowing that she would always be so much younger & less experienced than him. Along with her brother in all but blood, Mal, they would join the First Army together both knowing eventually they would meet their soulmates along the way.

Born to both light and shadows, I'm respected but feared. I have lived many centuries and served as a general under the Darkling and Mother's reign. In a desperate attempt to flee an ambush, I unknowingly used merzost. Little did I know that I had reached for the making of the world. I am now paying the price. I am trapped in a time before my own. I go by Leksi and this is my story.

Nyx is an engineer on the set of the TV-show Shadow And Bone. Ben is one of the leads in the show. - I promise it's more interesting than this, try a chapter and see!

If you read my other Darklina book "The True Saint", this one is the opposite (although it does not connect with my other book so it can be read separately). Instead of Alina making Aleksander a better man, she becomes a monster. This takes place the night of the Winter Fete and continues until the end of Ruin & Rising. What would happen if Alina did not run that night and instead confronted the Darkling about her new knowledge of the Black Heretic?
