    | This fiction is about a boy and girl, Zak and Kara, who wake up in an abandoned Victorian mansion, with little recollection of their arrival. The house is eerie, and cryptic, and certainly unexpected. Ultimately they end up escaping the house and find themselves in a barren and uninhabited ghost town. When the sun sets the town comes alive, filled with people and creatures celebrating in the streets. They return to mansion where they awoke, finding it returned to its imagined glory, and discovering that it’s a hotel, run by a wealthy family with a private and undisclosed history: The Masons. With no family and no real knowledge of their past, Zak and Kara are welcomed in the Mason’s home, for where else would they go? For years the town has waited for these citizens to arrive, increasing the population from 1,237 to 1,239. Zak and Kara’s fate affect everyone in the town, the why and how unknown. With so many unanswered questions and so much expected of them, the two find a way to live in this strange, mysterious, and supernatural city, while trying to unravel its secrets, discover their purpose for living, and using the most out of this new life they've been given.
