What if instead of trying to find the perfect fanfic to read I wrote it myself, what would it look like ? This what went through my mind when I got convinced to write myself a fanfiction instead of looking for one that would perfectly suit my taste. these are not just poems. they're pieces of me i didn't always know how to hold, thoughts that stayed too long in my head, feelings i couldn't explain even when i tried. i didn't start writing because i wanted to be a poet. i started because i didn't know what else to do when everything felt too much. somewhere along the way, words became a place i could come back to a place that didn't judge, didn't rush me, just... stayed. and maybe that's all this is. me, trying to understand myself..

Poems. I read poems sometimes, but I do not consider myself a poet. I will not publish fiction here for awhile. Maybe I will manage an occasional poem. No promises though.

Witches and humans have always existed peacefully in Sweetland Cove... until now. Someone is killing humans and drawing unwanted attention to the supernatural residents of Sweetland Cove. Ava Rose just turned twenty-one, and with her birthday came a few surprises. One: she's a witch. Two: she's part owner of a magical bakery she never knew existed. Three: Someone wants her dead. The day Ava arrives in Sweetland Cove, murders begin occurring... Witches and wizards are quick to blame her, but Ava's aunts won't let the town they love turn against her. But murders follow Ava everywhere. Soon, she finds herself on the receiving end of the killer's mad spree. With a crazy wizarding sheriff who wants to lock her up, and an even crazier wizarding detective who wants to lock her whole family up, Ava must solve this case alone. But as the days pass and the only clues point to her, Ava starts to wonder if maybe the sheriff is right. Maybe she really is the killer. The only thing Ava knows for sure is that the witches of Sweetland are not happy with her. Especially those witches who have something to hide. And they all have something to hide. Can Ava stop the killer before they strike again... even if that killer is her?

After dwelling on rhymes, I had a little courage to move onto free verse. Not really exceptional, but I do like to think they're decent? English is not my first language. If you can give me feedbacks or suggestions on how to improve my writing, I'd be more than happy to know.

Hello, I'm Fenella. I live in the North East of England. On the 24th of June 2025, I had a brain haemorrhage and emergency surgery in Newcastle. I spent three months in ICU and HDU at James Cook Hospital before moving into my new home, where I now live with my cat, Artemis, and-soon-my future PAWS assistance dog, Grimm. Language and cognition are harder for me now, but as part of my rehabilitation I want to raise funds for my recovery, for Ward 24 (who took such good care of me), and for SEDSConnective charity research on neurodivergence and hypermobility. When I moved in, I found one of my old cozy mystery notebooks: "A Partridge in a Pear Tree-Twelve Deadly Days of Christmas." I don't remember the story, and writing, organising thoughts, and reading are much harder than before. So I thought it might be fun to share a photo (Daily Clue) from my old notebook each day and to ask you to set me a writing challenge based on that clue. This gives me structure, therapy, and a sense of purpose-helping me to slowly get back to writing cozy mysteries. This is my 'Mending Mysteries' project.
