Bowie, baggy pants, and boy problems. Welcome to Welton Academy, 1988. Todd Anderson is a hopeless romantic, closeted and tragically in love with his roommate. Neil Perry is an outgoing stud who is equally as obsessed. Charlie Dalton is rooting from afar. Being queer in the eighties, especially in a catholic boys boarding school, might not be the most pleasant experience. The "gay plague" is making a sweep and riots are happening blocks away. While the fight for freedom continues, Todd struggles with his own boy battles.

Evelyn Nolan never expected to spend her seventeenth year living in an all-boys school. As the granddaughter of Welton's headmaster and daughter of its vice principal, she has always known what is expected of her. But everything changes when she meets John Keating and a group of boys who see the world a little differently. Between poetry, friendship, secrets and rules meant to be broken, Evelyn discovers that Welton may be more than just a school.

His plan is simple: If Neil's going to Harvard, he'll just have to go, too. Meanwhile, Neil is still trying to find his way at Brayton Military School. As time goes on, he makes an unlikely friend, and reveals what really happened on the fateful night of December 15th.

The morning after his suicide, Neil Perry wakes up - in his bed at home, completely unharmed, and it's summer. He has only one coherent thought: What the hell? Todd Anderson is dealing with this, mostly. After a field trip gone wrong, he finds himself back in his old room at his parents' place. And it's the first day of that fateful semester again, which is mostly a good thing, but also the cause of his current mental distress. What a relief he's got his brother along for the ride, at least.
