Disclaimer: This story is based on an Europa Universalis IV alternate history mod: Ante Bellum, this story specifically covers a timeline where the Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba survives the attempted reconquista of the Christians led by Francia, colonized the new world, spread Islam throughout the globe, and made it through the centuries becoming a modernized Islamic state. (Credit to Parmelion for the Ante Bellum mod) After trials and tribulations, wars fought and rebellions quelled, only for another to come. Al-Andalus is truly a unique state, built by a disgraced dinasty after facing a rebellion, losing the title of "Khalifah" to said rebellion, and fled the chaos to a fringe region where most of it's inhabitants don't even speak Arabic or practice Islam. Al-Andalus has became a place where Christians, Muslims and Jews live side by side, such tolerance was never heard of in that time period. Granted, toleration can only go so far when you're surrounded by hostile neighbors. But by some miracle, Al-Andalus prevails. With the discovery of the Americas, the Andalusians were presented with an opportunity. After the Nizzarid pretender of Egypt cut of routes from India, the Andalusians could make up for the lost trade for an oceanic Empire, and use that funding to find alternative route to India. This empire building slowly snowballing Andalusia to become the world's naval hegemon, with territories covering from Kalifurniya to Malaya. Reforms and previously flawed system of equality were rectified, religious converts at an all time high, economy is booming. But alas, just like any colonial empire. It has to come to an end eventually, the Neo-Kharijites faning the flames of revolution across the Caliphate, most breakaway peacefully, others by force. And thus, the Andalusian golden age come to an end. But in year 1976, whilst the nation faces economic stagnation, A GATE has appeared in the city of Ishbiliya, and the Caliphate finds an opportunity.

Driven from her home, a young free woman tries her luck in the Old West. New York was long gone; everything she was settled in her footprints that traversed miles upon grueling miles to arrive in Sweet Water Kansas. There, she resolves to take up a new identity in order to suppress her old one, all in hopes of preserving her life. She was like the rest at first, just a wandering soul passing through a small town. Unaware of her infamous reputation back up North, most the townsfolk left her alone. That was until one fuming august morning when she had an unfortunate run in with the hotheaded gunslinger, Jimmy Hickock. Extension: This story is a fan-fiction based off of the 1989-1990's show The Young Riders. The show follows the life of the Pony Express, a group of horse back riders specialized in delivering mail across the state of Kansas. Set just a few years before the Civil War shook the United States, these young men (and one woman disguised as a man) battle gun slinging cowboys, feared mercenaries, and territorial conflicts. Wild Bill and Buffalo Bill, two iconic figures of the Old West appear as major characters in their early years. My story takes place in Season 1.

Beth Kozera promised her best friend, Carrie Hansen, that she would stay and manage Stratton House in Carrie's absence. How she regrets that promise! Because Beth has no idea how to manage an event venue. Since when did brides become so demanding and grooms so lecherous? Plus, Beth can't boil water, let alone supervise a sit-down dinner for 200 guests every weekend. Thank goodness for Joshua. Or, at least, she thinks. But when Beth offers his mom a job managing the kitchen, Josh shows his patriarchal colors. So much for tall, dark and haughty. Now, her former fiance, Charles Mercer IV, is pressuring Beth to let him back into her life. Apparently the pregnant girlfriend Charlie left Beth for wasn't carrying his baby, and Charlie is convinced if he can restart a romance with Beth, he can somehow mend his life. All Beth wants to do is keep her promise to Carrie. But can every promise be kept?

Jack: Book 2 is a rollicking high-seas adventure. Schoolmaster Jerome Whittemore - a former 'preacher' on slave ships - quits teaching after a devastating classroom humiliation at the hands of Jack and Jeremy, two fun-loving, non-conforming students. Whittemore quits teaching and returns to his former ship - the Helena - on what may be a suicide mission. Ignorant of Whittemore's plan to incite rebellion with his newfound abolitionist teachings - Jack and Jeremy sign to the same ship. Jack and his teacher had hated one another but their antagonistic relationship changes after Jack is finally triumphant in book one. Jack decides to follow him to sea while recruiting his reluctant best friend, Jeremy, who invariably is skeptical of Jack's adventure plans. Both develop a new respect for Whittemore and sign for the same sea voyage - unaware that the Helena is a 'devil slave ship'. Whittemore is appalled to see them on deck that first night after the ship is beyond the northern-flowing Gulf Stream. The self-proclaimed 'preacher of the deep' for 'the Church of the Holy Waters', Whittemore intends to incite rebellion in his first sermon since glorifying the southern white plantation slavery system on the same ship three years past. Jeremy and Jack beg him to scuttle his 'crazy' plan but to no avail. Book 2 opens with master's diatribe against the slave trade and Captain Pendleton and his enablers - the crew of the Helena. Intrigue, espionage, conspiracies, mutiny and hurricane plague the ship's voyage during its several-month cruise through the Caribbean Sea to Jamaica, Cuba and Hispaniola and elsewhere. In Jamaica, Jack and Jeremy meet two free blacks - America and Mauricia - and together they conspire to free 110 African slaves who will board the Helena in Cuba. Jack, Book 2, was published in May, 2016. Please write a brief review. See the last page where you will find instructions. Thanks. - G. L. Dorion.

Elizabeth Manigault has not been in the attic of her parent’s home since she was a little girl. She opens the trunk that contains the ball gown of exquisite Chinese golden silk. The dress shimmers even in the dim light of the attic. She spots a small cardboard box: written on the end is “Margaret Elizabeth Manigault – Letters 1849 – 1865.” Thus begins a voyage of discovery through Meg’s letters that carries her back to when eleven year old Meg writes to her best friend’s older brother William, a 49er in the California Gold Rush. Meg expresses a childish wish for a gown of gold. A decade later, William finally fulfills her wish, only to fall in love with the beautiful Meg wearing the fabulous gown. It also serves as her wedding dress during the Civil War that finally destroys the very way of life that it was meant to preserve. Meg stores the gown in a trunk, for in 1865, Charleston no longer has the grand events at which to wear it. There it stays for a century and a half until it finally brings Meg and Elizabeth together across the years.

There was a girl who was born on Winter Solstice Eve. She belonged to the Noq people. The people of startling beauty with their stark silver hair and piercing Amethyst eyes.  She was a sight for sore eyes for everyone to see. Her looks alone could make anyone fall in love with her. Whether you were a Noq or not. She was just that exquisite. After she was born she was named the most gorgeous girl of them all. Some said her beauty was a gift. A power. But really, her beauty was just part of the curse that she was born with.         There was a girl, along with everyone else of the commonplace did not understand the horror that came with this child after birth. Only the Myxtes understood. They tried to warn the villages that this girl would release horror, but they had already fallen too deep. They were in love with this girl. Not realizing that it would be this very girl, twenty years later, who would ruin the peace between all peoples.         As a Noq tradition, a Myxtis was sent down every time a child in the village was born. This Myxtis would name the child and give him or her a gift.             There was a girl who was gifted the power of lithe and speed.             There was a girl who was named…Antebellum.
