On a peaceful morning in Vaniville Town, Serena returns home exhausted after another grueling Rhyhorn racing practice with her mother, Grace. Frustrated and sore, she relaxes in her room while playfully complaining about the harsh training. Hoping to distract herself, she begins flipping through television channels without much interest. By chance, she lands on a recorded broadcast of the Lily of the Valley Pokémon League in Sinnoh. As the camera focuses on one of the competitors preparing for battle, Serena freezes in shock.That one perticular trainer looks incredibly familiar, awakening long-forgotten memories from her childhood and changing her ordinary day forever.
