Epi (Epiphaneia) is a blind girl living on the coast of Athens. One day, she was forced to flee the marble city from her terrible fate, she finds herself stranded on a mysterious island filled with frighteningly realistic statues, most of which is engraved with fear, and soon finds herself with a monster she learns to be as much as a victim as she was. Stuck there, only with her wits and sharp tongue, she finds herself to become close with the monster with the kind eyes. Medusa. And this punishment the goddess had ensured upon her (or what Medusa told her it is) is starting to feel more like saviour.
