In a world governed by statutes, protocols, and public scrutiny, a senator and a lawyer learn the discipline of silence. By day, she stands beneath the lights of the chamber, measured, formidable, untouchable. By night, she belongs to a woman whose name appears not on ballots, but on legal briefs, brilliant, principled, and sworn to uphold the very system that could undo them both. Their relationship exists in margins and closed doors, in glances unrecorded and conversations never entered into the minutes. Love, for them, is not reckless, it is careful. It is negotiated like law, protected like state secrets, and carried quietly through hallways where power listens. As politics sharpen and the cost of exposure grows heavier, they must decide whether love is something to be concealed forever, or something worth risking careers, credibility, and history itself. Because some hearts bloom best in confidence.

Kung ano ang ayaw mo, siyang lalapit sayo. Sa di inaasahang pagkakataon mababago bigla ang pangarap na pinanindigan mo. Bata palang ay pangarap na ni lau ang maging isang abogado. Gusto nyang tumulong sa mahihirap at sa walang masyadong alam sa batas. Gusto nyang tulungan ang mga taong ipagtanggol ang sarili. Gaya ng kanyang lolo na isang abogado. Mabait at mapagmahal ito. Ituro nito kay lau ang iilang batas pang tao na maaring nyang magamit sa kanyang pang araw araw na pamumuhay. Ngunit sa di inaasahang pagkakataon ay nagka sakit ito ng malubha. Takot at halos isumpa na nito ang hospital. Kahit magka sakit ay hindi nito naisipang pumunta sa hospital dahil naalala lamang nya ang trauma sa pagkawala ng kanyang lolo. Galit at poot ang nanatili sa kanyang puso, buong akala nya ay walang ginawa ang mga doctor para mailigtas ang kanyang mahal na mahal na lolo. Ngunit di nya alam na sobrang lubha na pala ng karamdaman nito. Akala nya ay tapos na ang lahat ng sakit. Her brother diagnos the same disease. Sa murang edad ay nawala din ito sa kanila. Fen'ka, an old woman in 1356 Prague, knows the secret properties of herbs and is accused of witchcraft by a young German priest who is newly-arrived in Prague. He riles the crowd until they lynch Fen'ka in the Old Town Square, burning her for witchcraft as she invokes a curse on the city.

This poem was inspired by the thought that there's an entire life on other side of the sky appearing silent to us. (Also my entry for The Attys 2012)
