Steve Rogers tried to isolated himself from the rest of the Avengers and the world after what he did to Tony Stark, his friend and teammate. However, after he drops Bucky off in Wakanda where he'll be safe, Steve feels more alone than ever. Natasha Romanoff is on her own. Bruce Banner is still missing, Thor is off who-knows-where doing who-knows-what, and the Avengers are scattered. Nevertheless, she's perfectly okay with being alone. She always has been. Knowing that Steve is alone, however? It worries her. And when HYDRA is involved, being alone may not be an option. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This fanfiction takes place after Civil War and before Infinity War. I am WELL aware that Avengers Endgame is probably going to invalidate every word that I write here, but whatever. I just wanted to write this. DISCLAIMER: All of these characters, despite a couple background, belong to Marvel. The story and events that take place, however, are all of my own design. I also changed a few characters (who haven't been introduced to the MCU yet) so that they'd fit the story. MEGA SPOILER WARNING FROM INFINITY WAR If you are as excited to watch Infinity War as I was, please do NOT read this! It will spoil your whole experience. If you HAVE already watched the movie, feel free to read this. I have to say, I am very proud of myself for how accurate my Infinity war theories were, and so I am hoping this book goes the same way. I have some MORE theories this time about Avengers Endgame and I'm not sure which one I am excited about the most!

Toni Stark and Steve Rogers are both champions at waiting too long. There was palpable tension in New York, and then gears shifted to a more...romantic tension even after. They both should have just jumped in with both feet and gone after each other. Once the events of the civil war happened and the events in Moscow, the gears took a shift yet again and they were at odds with each other for years. Now, with the decimation at hand, they have to face facts that they both might be a little too late. Will they be able to say the things that need to be said, or will their words become jumbled into messages for only the universe?
