Winters had always been cruelly cold-biting, relentless, the kind that seeped through fur and bone alike. Even for an arctic fox, even for Etho, there were nights when the snow howled louder than instinct could answer. The white stretched on forever, blinding and empty, and the cold pressed in until movement itself became a careful calculation. Etho moved low to the ground when the wind picked up, shoulders rolling smoothly beneath his thick coat, paws placed with deliberate silence. His ears flicked constantly, swiveling for danger, for prey, for anything that meant warmth or shelter. When he paused, he curled his tail tight around his body, the plume of it tucked neatly over his nose to trap what little heat he could keep. Some winters were harsher than others. On those nights, instinct drove him closer to the edges of human territory. He lingered in the shadows, cautious but desperate, pale fur nearly vanishing against the snowbanks. The scent of smoke, wool, and cooked food tugged at something older than fear. He never approached boldly-only careful steps, a lowered head, eyes sharp and watchful, ready to bolt at the slightest threat. Finding a human willing to share warmth wasn't comfort. It was survival. Etho would settle near the fire but never too close, limbs tucked beneath him, muscles coiled even as exhaustion weighed heavy. Sleep came in short stretches, ears twitching, body primed to flee. Yet the heat soaked in anyway, thawing stiff joints and numbed paws, keeping him alive long enough to face the next dawn. Winter always passed eventually. But it never stopped demanding its price.

The feathered man fell from the sky. To not continue his life. Yet he does not die. But only finds confusion and strife. The nicest vex, having his friend almost slain. He takes a break, and has his friend turn into his date. The Vex vows for investigation to find who had done it with that disdain. Though it will be tough, along for the ride, having his new mate. Grian's life was a mess, having fallen down from some scaffolding and losing his memory, he takes an interest in Scar. Scar, having a new clingy buddy, has to find out who shot Grian, and bring them to justice, all while juggling a practical baby, and his job. The first in the ~Fallen Feathers~ series. ~Scaredy Cat~ is a prequel/spin off. ~Diamond Dust~ is a spin off. ~Finding Father~ is the sequel to this. Cover art isn't mine! Grian pressed a button. That's how the shenanigans started. Then he has to learn how to deal with the consequences, and those consequences come in the form of child hermits. This is a retelling of Bdubs's Limited Life story, with increased angst about choosing where his loyalties lie and choosing between his parents etc, etc. Though this is mainly limited life it will reference other life series as well, and hermitcraft

*Cover created by me* Evil Ex-or Corex-has created a problem in Season 8. A respawn glitch-or something they've dubbed the Child's Curse. Each time a hermit dies or server hops back into Hermitcraft, they're placed between the ages of 4-8. This creates some trust problems between hermits, amplifies pain from Last Life, and takes quite the toll mentally on Xisuma as once again he has to clean up his brother's messes. Of course, there's always plus sides. Like some of the hermits having tons of fun playing as kids! And lots more chaos! At the end of the day though, it's still a problem, and some people don't know how to handle problems. *Cross-posted on Archive of Our Own*

At hermitcraft high school the class is going on a camping trip! With Grian following Mumbo around,Scar only talking about cats, Bdubs being called small and a mysterious person in the woods. Everyone can tell this trip will be eventful! Note: X is 2 years older than everyone else because it would be boring to have adults but TFC lives near the woods so the see him. Hope you enjoy! Etho feels soft hands rest on his face, those same mossy hands he craves so bad. He inhales sharply, resting his forehead against his husbands. Bdubs hums, trailing his hands down Etho's arms, feeling where his hands meet. He smiles, closing his eyes. He rubs his thumbs against Ethos rough knuckles, guiding them up to his face, pressing soft kisses against them both, one at a time. He feels like he can breathe better now. He doesn't know why it was so hard to before- - Etho is sick and Bdubs is there, like always.
