Re-write/fix-it fic of sorts, for Stranger Things (Mike/Will -centric) Starts at the end of season 3, when the Byers' have just moved out. Mike's POV, what he got up to (in my mind), for those months in between season 3 and season 4. I'm planning on keeping the basic structure of s4 there but just altering the scenes that included Will and Mike. Not touching other plotlines as much. *Not sure of the exact date of the Byer's move, Stranger Things wiki would state they were living in Lenora from Oct '85 - March '86. I would just gather that the school year or semester would start earlier than October. After Will comes out, Mike starts to realise the truth- far too late, and in the middle of the end of the world.

In1988, Will Byers gets a place in an university he had always been dreaming of, Yale. There he finds out he shares a dorm with a boy named Mike wheeler. They become good friends. Soon Will realizes that his feelings for Mike are getting deeper, the same way they did before with other guys too. Will tries so hard to ignore those feelings, like he always did. But soon they are too much and he realizes that with Mike he feels different type of feelings than with the boys in his high school. Will he tell Mike about these feelings and how will the other boy react?

I wrote this before the finale aired and it captures my prediction of what I think will happen in the scene that sets Mike and Will up for a Byler endgame! If I'm right, I cooked here. If I am wrong, I still think it should have happened this way and you can't change my mind! Enjoy....

The day was calm, but the tension rising between Mike and Will was not. It was that day in the summer of '85 when Will and Mike got into a big fight in the rain. Neither of them wanted to speak about it ever again. However, the real reason as to why that day stayed buried in their minds was much different than anyone had thought.

Mike is having a sleepover at Will's after an intense night of their games. Lucas, Dustin, and Max already went home. El is sleeping in Nancy's room, he struggles to fall back asleep, Will puts him to ease.

It's just a nickname right?..don't get mad.

How can I tell you when I can't even tell myself? Love shouldn't feel like a secret, but for Mike, it does. Loving your boy best friend can't be right... can it? Mike has begun to understand what he feels, and he doesn't know how to admit it-not to anyone, and certainly not to himself. When his friends get together again for the first time after graduating, Mike is forced to confront his feelings for Will face-to-face. For some reason, the weight of what he's hiding is heavier than ever. A Byler slow-burn, taking place post-season 5. Hopefully this can cure whatever heartbreak you have after the s5 finale :)

everything had gone back to normal in hawkins, indiana when eleven had closed the gate a year prior. she also got what she'd always wanted, to date mike wheeler. things seemed great, until will felt the mind flayer in him again at day of the dead. that's when the party and the rest of the gang decided to band together to help defeat the mind flayer once and for all. will sorts out his feelings with his completely oblivious best friend, who soon realizes el is not the one for him. like any other good summer, it sparks some new relationships and budding romances. but, of course something is going to get in the way of that..
