After a mysterious fire in her old school's classroom, Bella is named as the arsonist, promptly expelled and shipped off to live in Forks. There, she discovers a realm of magic, supernatural creatures and the mystical force that ties her to Rosalie Hale.

After a near-death experience, Bella is removed from her mother's care in the middle of her junior year, forced to spend the rest of her developing years in Forks, Washington with her father. Unknown to her at the time, this accident leaves Bella with the ability to sense the supernatural, leading her to unknown danger in her seemingly safe new home. For some reason, she can't get one standoffish rude blond girl out of her mind. She feels like she can always sense her, like someone is whispering secrets about her and her family, whispers just slightly out of reach. No matter what she does, she can't break this weird bond with Rosalie Hale and her family, forcing Rosalie to protect her from the unseen dangers of their little forest town that Bella's new found powers seem to attract.
