Ever since I was young, I believed in mermaids. In fact, I have seen one before. Not any of that fake stuff you see on the internet, I saw her swimming in the ocean. No one believed me though. But I knew they were real. As I grew older, my family and I went on a trip across the ocean for a year. When we got back, I got my own place on the beach in the Caribbean. I firmly believe that graduation instills in everyone a feeling of nostalgia. Which is why, as I attempt to find my seat at graduation rehearsal, I find myself stumbling into hidden pockets of memories that had long been shoved into the back of my mind by the stress of high school. Faces will forever be the bookmarks of our lives. Different people take us back to different moments that we would love to relive or rather forget. As we view everyone, we are reminded of who we once were and who we will strive to be. They stir up emotions of love, jealousy,hatred, thankfulness, helplessness as we view how others have grown and often compare their progress to ourselves. Welcome to graduation, the last moments of juvenility, as we look back on our past selves and strive to see the future. ** She has regrets when she looks back at her high school years.
