Fatima is still trying to find her footing in the world when tragedy strikes: someone she loves dearly suddenly passes away, leaving behind a fifteen-year-old daughter with nowhere else to go. Overnight, Fatima becomes a provider, and the only steady ground for a grieving teenager whose world has been torn apart. But while she's expected to be the strong one, Fatima is quietly unraveling under the weight of her own heartbreak. She's navigating adulthood, career pressures, financial strain, and the lingering question of who she wants to become while learning how to parent a girl drowning in loss and anger. As the two struggle to coexist in a home filled with grief, they begin to discover that tragedy doesn't only destroy but it can also reshape. Through late-night arguments, unexpected laughter, and shared memories of the person they both loved, they slowly piece together a new kind of family. And just when life feels too heavy and responsibilities too overwhelming, love appears in the most unexpected way challenging Fatima to believe that even in the midst of sorrow, there is still room for healing, hope, and second chances.ther Zatima story

"So," Coffee Shop Boy said. I was watching his web-show. He took my earlier and programmed his number into it. Out of curiosity, I texted him and asked him his name. Coffee Shop Boy said 'don't worry, cutie, watch my show and all will be revealed.' So here I am, watching his show as I tried not o look at my scars. "I met this girl today at the coffee shop I always go to. I won't say her name because I want her to do something for me at the end of the segment. Anyways, she was crying when we met and I wanted to know why. Fellas, you should never let a crying girl go unconsoled, even if you don't know her. I pulled her over to a table and started talking to her like we had know each other all out lives. This girl is beautiful, inside and out. But I noticed that she had these cuts on her wrists, and I thought 'why would such a beautiful girl feel the need to harm herself?'. I asked her about it, but she avoided my question easily. "Coffee Shop Girl, this is where I have to ask something of you. If you want to know my name, meet me at the Coffee Shop tomorrow after school. I''m gonna need a friend since we're going to the same school, after all." * * * Ophelia Bello is the daughter of divorced parents. She has two older siblings, one sister and one brother, that are biological and two more half-siblings. Her mother, who remarried three years ago, has almost completely forgotten about her and her father lives a new life with her twin brother. Her older sister is away at college and has seemed to forget her too. So she cuts to take the pain away. Ophelia meets Bram Stomes in the coffee shop where she used to work. She instantly feels wanted by the was he talks and pays attention to her. Maybe this is her reason to stop hurting herself. All rights reserved 2014 Jane Dugan

Seventeen-year-old Karasi Shujaa ain't afraid of no ghosts - although technically they are called roho mbaya - and poachers. Blessed by the gods of her tribe with the magic to mimic the powers of animals, Karasi hunts both down without a sense of fear-not an easy task with her 9 PM curfew. The only thing Karasi does fear is getting caught kissing her girlfriend, as being a lesbian is illegal in Kenya. When a sacred lion cub-the source of Karasi's magic-is stolen by a poaching syndicate influenced by the demonic serpent Kifonyoka, it endangers the natural balance. However, before Karasi can rescue it, her father, a tribal man who neither believes in the gods nor their magic, ships her off to live in Washington D.C. Although her magic draining away, Karasi will fight for what she views as her birthright. With the support of her gods, Karasi must outwit Kifonyoka and his deadly disciples to rescue the cub. Or else Karasi would lose her magic, her mother's legacy, and the love of the girl of her dreams.
