It's the year 2100, and meeting your partner in REAL-LIFE has been illegal for 50 years - ever since the divorce rate reached a crippling 80 percent. Now, there's a new answer: SATE, the government initiative aimed at matching all 18-30 year-olds with their one true person. Their soulmate. The success rate is 99.9%. Sounds perfect, right? For 18 year-old Marianne, who's parent were matched by SATE, it definitely is NOT. She wants experiences. She wants adventures. She wants mistakes. A soulmate? No thank you. Not right now. But since most people don't receive a match until they're 25, she's sure she still has time to explore all of that. What she isn't expecting, is for her match to arrive on her 18th birthday. What she isn't expecting, is for all her thoughts to be occupied with her real-life best friend.

In a near-future world, Kevin, a socially inept average guy, struggles to establish meaningful connections. By chance, he stumbles upon a tempting advertisement for the dating app Memory Exchange. Intrigued by the promise it holds, he implants a chip that allows him to swiftly exchange memories with women. The short story "The Memory Exchange" shows the downfall of a man who, in his desperate pursuit of love, fails to see the limits of the absurd.
