Sometimes words just flow out of me, so I like to put them into my writing. However, I don't ever really have a story that goes with the scene in my head, so I make blurbs. This is kind of like my sketchbook...but with words! If I like a blurb enough, I'll turn it into something real.

Captain Humboldt Granger is running out of time! Across the deserts of Egypt and through the streets of Victorian England, he is running from ancient tombs to the hangman's noose. All to get back into the arms of the love of his life, Jessica. Henry had always hated him and would stop at nothing to steel Jessica's heart from him with lies and deceit. In the squalor of Victorian England Granger's life and those around him would change for ever! (Take a cup full of Indiana Jones and a cup full of Sharpe "no relation, I think" and you get Captain Granger. An historical adventure romance)

I... I have no idea what to say about this one. Just check it out.

So you've got a great story, characters you love, a plot which grips you. You want to share your story with the world; you're excited about it, and you want people to read it. But you feel like they land on your page and lose interest as soon as they read your summary. This seems to be a recurring problem. Here are five easy steps to follow to make your summary stronger, and to get more readers. Disclaimer: this is not official or endorsed by Wattpad in any way; I've just made it up to help other writers. My creds: I'm an editor and freelance writer. I've lost count of the number of blurbs and summaries I've written or edited. I'm happy to help out with your summaries if you PM me. For what it's worth, I think writing summaries is one of the hardest parts of being a writer. We're writers, not salesmen - it's hard to put yourself in the mindset of the reader, to write something that will hook them. I write mainly teen fiction so my advice is skewed towards that, but I think the advice works for all genres and categories. Let me know what you think in the comments!

What I wrote today

𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐇, Matt and reader (you) get into a petty argument over you feeling like Matt wasn't spending enough time with you, which was obviously not true, but you're extremely sensitive and insecure, leading you to being a little dramatic. Matt desperately tries to solve the situation and come up with suggestions on how to fix the problem, but they just upset you further. 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨.
