Inspired clearly by the Huxley classic, Brave New World, this is an expression of my distaste with the world far less comically than Huxley and with bitterness indelible.

John's understanding of the events that occurred in the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. This was something I wrote for my class, but I liked it enough to share.

After helping to reboot the universe, I found myself thrust into a strange new world and like before, I've been many different things and had many different names over the course of my life, but one thing has always remained the same. It's a strange new world right now, and like a lot of you, I was not all that prepared for it. So, in an effort to keep myself sane I've decided to write down the not-comings and not-goings but the staying put and the new discoveries to be made as we all hibernate for a while. Some things are funny, some are definitely not. Let's look at them together, because we're all in this together.

When a citizen turns twenty-two their life changes and a sense of individuality is lost as one is merged with another, the other being their designated soul mate, the one they must live out the rest of their life in compliance to government regulations.

The dog who didn't like his master is a light hearted, humorous dystopia about Ben, a Labrador who does not want to become a guide dog for the visually impaired and decides to run away from his training school with the help of a scheming cat named Pistachio. Set in the war torn northern town of Lambed, the novel follows Ben's adventures and his misguided conversion to the feline cause. Ben embarks on a voyage of love, betrayal and redemption which will not leave him unscathed. A tall tale/tail indeed in which the animals have become decidedly human in their quest for power and domination. With the help of Ben, a fascistic Catiphate is born but will there be room for him once Pistachio has asserted himself as its absolute ruler? To be sure this is an old tale but one with a modern twist coloured by current events on the world scene.

In Cedreno, a colossal city rising from the ashes following the humanity's great downfall, the shadow of the past looms over the present. The Council of Cedreno rules with an iron fist, imposing draconian policies to maintain order after the war that left deep scars on humanity. In this suffocating metropolis, individuality is considered a crime, where opinions are classified as "safe" and "dangerous," and censorship is an unquestionable norm to preserve fragile peace. Marina Tosrrington, a young woman stripped of her own uniqueness, grows up in this repressive world, feeling that something is profoundly wrong. She is a creative and passionate soul, but she is forced to conceal her true essence due to the government's watchful eye. Any slip, any sign of questioning, and Marina becomes a threat in the eyes of the regime. However, everything changes on a dark night when Marina is captured by a daring group calling themselves "The Singulars." They embody hope for those yearning for a society where masks can finally be taken off, where authenticity and freedom of expression are restored. Marina is faced with a monumental choice: continue a life of compliance and submission, masking her true identity, or embrace the dangerous journey toward freedom, where authenticity is a virtue, and risk is constant. "Masks of Freedom" is a captivating narrative that delves into the complexities of a society where security is achieved at the cost of individuality, while following Marina's journey in the pursuit of a life where masks are unnecessary, but the price to pay is high. This is a story of courage, resistance, and the eternal human desire for freedom.

In the grand tradition of heroic figures from Brave New World, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 fighting for freedom of thought under a tyrannical regime out to enslave the super powered and destroy the defiant, comes the young orphan Thor with his pet serpent Hisstory challenging the norm. So what is Utopian SF? Is there an objective definition? Or will we inevitably be accused of political bias for saying free healthcare, education, a health-based approach to drug use and rehabilitation, universal basic income for everybody, art is beautiful, no more crime, no more war, peace, love, success for everybody, that's our Utopia!

"Even if you deny it now, you have always been playing God. I am." William Bell was a dying man. In fact, he considered himself already dead. But, he planned to pursue one more goal: creation. He believed his destiny was to be a god, and he planned to give rise to a new universe, of his own design, in order to achieve this. He did.
