Takes place after Crooked Kingdom, before King of Scars. If you haven't read Six of Crows or Crooked Kingdom, please read those first. There will be spoilers. I am open to comments and suggestions. Characters and setting by Leigh Bardugo.

Pekka Rollins has been dethroned, and Kaz must do his best to claim the title of King of The Barrel, but the competition is nearly as cunning as he is, and the ever-changing web of alliances in Ketterdam is already shifting, learning to operate without its late ruler. The monster of a city has a way of keeping one disoriented, new foes crop up and businesses collapse in the blink of an eye. Timing is key, but Kaz has underestimated just how crucial it is, and how hard it will be to gather information with his ex-Wraith flitting in and out of the city. Inej has her ship, and has reunited with her parents but everything is not quite so perfect as it seems. She didn't realize how hard it would be to see her parents again after everything she's been through. No longer an innocent child, she struggles to explain everything she's done. They understand what was survival, and there is no blame for her actions, but her parents recoil at her ideas of hunting down slavers, labeling it brash and foolish. Which it just may be, lacking a true foundation and plan. She can't simply go cavorting about the open sea and hope to find slavers. So she turns to Kaz, in the hopes of starting something new, to root out the worst of the worst, on the seas and in the city.

If things had just been better... Kaz Rietveld would be the brother of Jordie Rietveld- apprentice to Pekka Rollins. Kaz would be going to the University, a boy with a passion for magic tricks. Inej Ghafa would be an acrobat, traveling Ravka, with a love for the high wire. She'd be visiting Ketterdam with her parents as a way to escape the war. Jesper Fahey would be a university student, smart enough to know he'd get addicted to West Stave if he ever went, and whom no one ever wants to play darts with. Nina Zenik would be a Grisha heartrender, a valued part of the second army, sent out of Ravka to recruit Grisha for the war effort. Matthias Helvar would be a Druskelle, searching Ravka for Grisha, and accidentally getting himself into something way beyond his paygrade. Wylan Van Eck would be the only heir to the Van Eck fortune, his dyslexia never holding him back- because his father can accept who he is: one of the most talented musicians in all Ketterdam. But you can't really have all that without trading it for something else, can you? Because these crows need to save the world from Jurda Parem just as much as the originals did, without their learned skills to aid them. By chance or by luck, they become a crew, stealing Kuwei-Yul-Bo and his father from Fjerda together.

So dream invites everyone to go to Florida for his 10 million special! Little does everyone know that Tommy isn't ready for this. He has a pretty good home life, nice mom, nice dad, big house, pets, etc. But he is definitely NOT mentally stable. What happens when everyone finds out this about Tommy, and a couple unexpected things from Tubbo, too.
