This story is an experiment in tiered storytelling. Updating miniature 300-500 word fragments at a time, each of them hopefully passable as their own flash fiction element. I started this as a joint project between nano and starting my flash fiction group, and I'll be updating the stories to the Flash Fiction Phenomenon group on Facebook, which is an open club that anyone can join, readers and writers. I'll be filling in any gaps here, as I'm sure some will creep up. It's hard to compile flash fiction in this way, at least for me, but I'm making a challenge out of it. I hope you enjoy.

When a Major earthquake hits Los Angeles, Dawson Wayne, away from home on a business trip, waits for word that roads are back open. Little does he know that 95 million miles away, the Sun is spewing plasma towards earth, in a Coronal Mass Ejection, bigger than anyone has ever seen. Dawson will soon learn he has three days to make it home to his family in Oregon before the mass ejection hits, and changes our way of life on earth as we know it.

We have to relearn our survival skills. This story follows the journey of three teens during the aftermath of a Coronal Mass Ejection, which is basically a burst of energy from the sun, that once hits the earth's magnetic field, causing technology to catch on fire.
