Everyone says Turtle is a strange girl.
She disappears into the forest, talks to wild animals, and always comes home with scratches on her hands and a smile on her face.
She has no riches, no extraordinary powers...
Only the kindest heart anyone has ever known.
But no one notices how lonely she actually is.
Until a boy stumbles into her world, he discovers a hidden valley, unlikely friendships, and a girl who asks for almost nothing-yet quietly gives everything she has.
Some people leave footprints.
Turtle leaves entire forests that refuse to forget her.
A heartwarming coming-of-age story about first love, healing, and the unforgettable girl who teaches one boy that kindness can change a life.

By the time we emerged from the forest, the afternoon sun had begun to lean westward.
Turtle amused herself by stepping on her own shadow, now stretched long across the narrow trail.
I turned for one last look.
The forest seemed to be burning beneath the crimson glow of sunset, while above the treetops the clouds had ripened into the deep purple of ripe plums.
Still singing, Turtle's voice floated through the evening air.
"The grasshoppers are dancing...
Little flea, oh little flea...
The ant inside its nest is asleep...
Let's see if you can find it..."
