Kalypso Queen, twenty-three years old and Vice President of Capello International's subsidiary, Capello Wine Company, wears three expressions: rage, annoyance, and coldness. Young, brilliant, blue-blooded, and demanding, she is disliked by most. Special Agent Brandon Prince is replacing the murderer vintner. Knowing that Kalypso Queen is the number one suspect, he investigates her and is intrigued by her aloof personality. But when he truly knows her, he begins to doubt his superior's suspicions of Miss Queen. Murder. Romance. Deceit. Greed. Who murdered the previous vintner? "My name is Jace Overton, and I have schizophrenia." Mr. Stevenson stood from his desk, his eyes widening and surprise slapping him in the face as if he'd just discovered vibranium. "Wow, so you're a schizophrenic?" My mom told me there were three kinds of people in the world: people that didn't care, people that cared enough, and people that cared too much. He was definitely the third type of person. "No, I have schizophrenia. I am not a schizophrenic." "Is there a difference?" I stared at him blankly, "I wouldn't have corrected you if there wasn't." ----- Jace is weird. Jace has a blunted affect, a knack for memorizing, and a strong attraction to a Pakistani girl named Elizabeth. He also has a distant father, an overbearing psychiatrist and two best friends that get him into situations (some of which end with his nose [and heart] being broken). He has a sister that's ten years his senior, daily medication, serious hatred for the color white and a mere four years to accomplish the following things: 1) Make his parents fall in love with each other again. 2) Make Elizabeth fall in love with him. 3) Get people to understand that he has schizophrenia, he is not a schizophrenic. The former is attached to an identity while the latter is a label. A CampNaNoWriMo Novel

Two hundred years in the future, Earth's rural lands have all but disappeared. The rest of the planet's surface is one huge city called Metropola. The only place on Earth where no one from Metropola has gone is called Hatari Island. It is located in the south pacific and served as a breeding ground for genetic experimentation in the twenty-second century. Its megafauna is unlike anything the planet has ever seen before. However, there are people on the island, called the Kupata, who have been there for as long as anyone can remember. They still live the old way and shoot bows and arrows and gather their food. But the island is not what it seems. Pretending to be shareholders in a science program on the island, the world's richest men are using the island for something terrible. Something the natives call "Thunder Season." Into this world comes Bahati. Bahati was born on the island and wear the claw of the most powerful beast on the island around his neck. He, like the rest of his people, does not know anything about the existence of Metropola and its people. He has never seen those who come to the island from that place. One day, however, he meets a shipwreck victim named James Goodman, who tells him about the rest of the world. James quickly figures out the island's true purpose and he and Bahati escape with a ragtag band of rebels to tell the rest of the world about the atrocities there. Together, they seek the help of the Metropola council and campaign for the Kupatas' freedom. Unfortunately, a strange twist of events sends Bahati back to the island. There, he is subject to the hardest test he has ever had to pass. Losing will mean certain death. Winning will mean freedom for all his people.

In the midst of a brewing civil war, Sofia, a simple woman, just wants to be married and settle down. That is, until, a prince crashes into her life, threatening everything she's known and her family's safety. As the two of them embark on adventures together, against all odds, she realises she's beginning to fall for him. \\ A thud in the distance. I turn suddenly, alert. While we had neighbours, most of them would be in town, setting up for the celebrations. No one would've left their dog outside and although we were on the wooded edge of town, deer usually didn't wander this close. Shuffle, shuffle. My throat seized. Suddenly, a figure burst through the hedges, running straight towards me. I suppressed a scream as he ran into me. The two of us hitting the ground. Ow, my nose. My hand flew to my nose, already anticipating the bleeding. "Shoot," I hissed in the dark. "Get down," My attacker roughly pulled me back. We were in one of Mum's many bushes. "No!" I cried, wrenching my arm back. Was this how I got abducted? I started to breath heavily, scrambling back in the bushes even further. "Shush, please!" He whispered urgently, "I need your help!" "I don't need to help you," I hissed, "crazy person! Rushing in on my backyard!" "I know! And I'm so sorry! It's a matter of life and death!" He panted. Between the low light and the thick branches, I could barely get a good look at my attacker. He had a dark grey hood up and over his head. In terms of age, he was on the younger side of attackers, which did nothing to help my wild theory that he was coming to abduct me. "So?" I whispered, trying to slow my panting. "My name's C-." He breathed, "Wait are you bleeding?" For the second time my hand flew to my nose. As I expected a torrent of blood was running forth. I wiped the worst of it away from my mouth. "I mean, that's what happens when somebody tackles you to the ground," I hissed.

Gloria didn't think she was going to have to go it alone with her very first café, but when her business partner disappears and she has a lease to pay she must figure out a way to make it work. ------ NOTES: 1. Thank you for reading!!! 2. This is a FIRST DRAFT of my first novel so please be gentle with your comments :) I'm not looking for critique or editing advice but I'd love to hear if you like the story. Comments I particularly value hearing are: if the story takes you anywhere in your mind, if there's anything you're looking forward to finding out in future chapters (e.g. what happens with a specific character you're invested in, etc.) or just things you particularly enjoy reading. I've joined the #JustWriteIt challenge as well as Camp NaNoWriMo with the same challenge. I'm trying to write 10,000 words in a month. Happy reading and writing!

When it comes to the musical Guys and Dolls, Lottie Ingham would not call herself obsessed--just knowledgeable. After all, she can dedicate entire essays to the smooth gambler character of Nathan Detroit, which any average teenage girl can do, of course. Now that it's summer, she can rewatch the movie as many times as she wants. However, what she doesn't expect is to rope her longtime crush, a hot-as-hell soccer star, into her dedication to Guys and Dolls and more than a couple other mishaps.
