Excerpt: "One of yours, you say?" Briar ran a calloused hand over the bark of the pine he stood next to. "Yes, Steele Gang property." "Oh, so people are property," Briar's smile widened, but there was something disconcerting about the expression. "You won't be getting him back. Sorry." "That wasn't a request." The tracker spoke up. "He got himself into this. We can't just let him walk away." "But you will," Briar stood up straight. Even at full height, he wasn't terribly intimidating. Andria had no idea what this foreigner was thinking, but he was convinced the man was crazy. This was suicide. "Yeah? Why would we do that?" The other sneered, drawing his pistol. "Because what I'll do to you if you don't is much worse than whatever will happen to you if you do," This story follows the misadventures of an outcast youth attempting to rid himself of a curse. The setting is based on the mid-1800s American frontier, with strong fantasy elements. Camp Nano project for April 2018. Updates/Edits: - As of 21 June, all currently published chapters have been merged into slightly longer pieces, since I felt like the way the chapters were divided was throwing the pacing off a little. - I'm currently putting this story through some early stage beta reading and merging some of the chapters! Contact me if you'd like to beta read. :)

Two hundred years in the future, Earth's rural lands have all but disappeared. The rest of the planet's surface is one huge city called Metropola. The only place on Earth where no one from Metropola has gone is called Hatari Island. It is located in the south pacific and served as a breeding ground for genetic experimentation in the twenty-second century. Its megafauna is unlike anything the planet has ever seen before. However, there are people on the island, called the Kupata, who have been there for as long as anyone can remember. They still live the old way and shoot bows and arrows and gather their food. But the island is not what it seems. Pretending to be shareholders in a science program on the island, the world's richest men are using the island for something terrible. Something the natives call "Thunder Season." Into this world comes Bahati. Bahati was born on the island and wear the claw of the most powerful beast on the island around his neck. He, like the rest of his people, does not know anything about the existence of Metropola and its people. He has never seen those who come to the island from that place. One day, however, he meets a shipwreck victim named James Goodman, who tells him about the rest of the world. James quickly figures out the island's true purpose and he and Bahati escape with a ragtag band of rebels to tell the rest of the world about the atrocities there. Together, they seek the help of the Metropola council and campaign for the Kupatas' freedom. Unfortunately, a strange twist of events sends Bahati back to the island. There, he is subject to the hardest test he has ever had to pass. Losing will mean certain death. Winning will mean freedom for all his people.

In the midst of a brewing civil war, Sofia, a simple woman, just wants to be married and settle down. That is, until, a prince crashes into her life, threatening everything she's known and her family's safety. As the two of them embark on adventures together, against all odds, she realises she's beginning to fall for him. \\ A thud in the distance. I turn suddenly, alert. While we had neighbours, most of them would be in town, setting up for the celebrations. No one would've left their dog outside and although we were on the wooded edge of town, deer usually didn't wander this close. Shuffle, shuffle. My throat seized. Suddenly, a figure burst through the hedges, running straight towards me. I suppressed a scream as he ran into me. The two of us hitting the ground. Ow, my nose. My hand flew to my nose, already anticipating the bleeding. "Shoot," I hissed in the dark. "Get down," My attacker roughly pulled me back. We were in one of Mum's many bushes. "No!" I cried, wrenching my arm back. Was this how I got abducted? I started to breath heavily, scrambling back in the bushes even further. "Shush, please!" He whispered urgently, "I need your help!" "I don't need to help you," I hissed, "crazy person! Rushing in on my backyard!" "I know! And I'm so sorry! It's a matter of life and death!" He panted. Between the low light and the thick branches, I could barely get a good look at my attacker. He had a dark grey hood up and over his head. In terms of age, he was on the younger side of attackers, which did nothing to help my wild theory that he was coming to abduct me. "So?" I whispered, trying to slow my panting. "My name's C-." He breathed, "Wait are you bleeding?" For the second time my hand flew to my nose. As I expected a torrent of blood was running forth. I wiped the worst of it away from my mouth. "I mean, that's what happens when somebody tackles you to the ground," I hissed.

❝Nobody can tell this story. Nobody but me.❞ Ω When Aaron McGannon struts into school with a gun and a plan, nobody is prepared. Not his boyfriend, not his sister, and certainly not the souls that hang in the balance. From then on-maybe even before-nothing is certain. Nothing, except the resounding declaration that skids across the asphalt of his mind: there will be blood. [ NO. 13 || 19.5.16 ]

Zefra is a shrine keeper in the capital city of Ehram. Far away from home, she devotes her time to the shrines of the gods. But there is trouble brewing. The Kingdom of Ehlil has turned its back on the gods, and the Glassmakers have grown their influence. Their wonders provide a distraction from bigger problems, and the gods grow displeased by their influence. Aspects of Sand is a fantasy novel written for Camp NaNo in April 2021. This is the first version of it, pre-revision. I started writing two days early, on March 30, to give myself some room so that what you're reading isn't a rough first draft so much as a story revisited after a couple days of consideration, but there will still be a lot of rough edges. This year's theme is zombies, though it's technically optional. You'll find that Aspects of Sand is a traditional fantasy story with zombies, but it's not focused on the overt horror elements of zombie fiction so much as using them as a story tool. I'm also not much for gore, so expect the zombie scenes to be "mild" compared to what you might see elsewhere. I'm working from an outline that has a more or less cover-to-cover complete plot, so I expect to complete Aspects of Sand within the month (or at least be over the 50,000 word threshold to be called a novel), but remember that what you're seeing isn't a finished novel. Although this is the first novel I'm making publicly available, it is actually my third novel. If you have questions or feedback, leave them in comments! I'm writing this very quickly and many things have probably escaped my notice. I'll also be updating my blog (available through my Wattpad profile link) every Friday with an overview of my progress and a reflection on my work.

Abigail Sherman is a perfectly average (well, as average as we can be while still being totally human) person with a perfectly average life. That is, she grows up, moves out, experiences the highs and lows of life, (hopefully) becomes a better person, and, of course, deals with more drama than is reasonable for one average person. This story follows Abigail (and a crap ton of other characters) from high school all the way until they start college. There's romance, drama, betrayal, death, etc. These poor souls experience all these things and more so you can read about it from the comfort of your home and say "wow, I'm sure glad I'm not one of them!" while turning the page to see what nonsense they get up to next. (This is part of a series, so there will eventually be more books to come)
