Claire is 22, bright, social, and always a little restless. She moves to a small lakeside town in British Columbia with her previous college roommate Spencer to spend the summer working as an interior designer. It's not glamorous-just creating floor plans, fixing up rooms, and working with companies to get their spaces to match their business but it pays well.
Matthew is 24. He's calm, serious, and quietly intimidating in that effortless smart, good-looking, and always a little too put-together for a small town kind of way. He runs a small contracting and design business in town and gets hired to help with large repairs and extreme upgrades. He's worked on many famous peoples houses and many large scale buildings.
Claire gets hired by Matt and from the moment they meet, they don't exactly get along.
Claire is has many ideas-she wants the house to feel fun, welcoming, and alive. Matthew on the other hand is practical and detail-focused-if something isn't structurally sound or budget-approved, it doesn't happen. She thinks he's too rigid. He thinks she's to risky.
So they clash over everything: paint colors, room layouts, furniture, even how vases should be arranged.
But because they're stuck working the same space all summer, they can't avoid each other.
Slowly, the rivalry softens. Claire starts noticing that Matthew isn't just "strict"-he cares a lot about doing things properly because he doesn't like waste or mess. Matthew starts realizing Claire's ideas aren't careless-they're about making people feel at home in a way he never really thought about.
And somewhere between moving in furniture, and floor plan meetings, the tension between them starts turning into something neither of them planned for.
