Homer Asuncion and Shiela Nuñez come from two of Baguio's most influential families.
Homer, a mid-twenties heir to a traditional, family-oriented clan, was raised to believe that influence comes with responsibility. His family's textile business has been woven into the community for generations, creating livelihoods and mobilizing people beyond the walls of their own home. Grounded in his faith, Homer knows exactly what he believes, even if life doesn't always go according to plan.
Shiela grew up in a different kind of world.
Her mother was once a celebrated actress, but her star has slowly faded. Her father is a powerful businessman whose work has always seemed to come before his family. Raised among wealth, influence, and appearances, Shiela learned early that some things are easier to maintain when you simply don't look too closely.
Faith has never been part of her plans.
Until an unexpected arrangement brings her and Homer together.
Two families. Two worlds. One marriage.
But this isn't your typical love story.
Six months before their wedding, something happened that changed everything. Now married but never having consummated their marriage, Homer and Shiela are left questioning why they were brought together in the first place.
Was their marriage simply a transaction between two influential families?
Was it a love story waiting to happen?
Or was there something else at work all along?
Because sometimes, God writes a story long before we realize we're living in it.
The Favored is a story about faith, surrender, family, influence, and discovering that God's plans rarely look the way we imagined them to.
And perhaps the greatest question isn't whether Homer and Shiela will stay married.
It's whether Shiela will choose God, even if following Him means letting go of everything she thought was meant for her.
