Thousands of years before the War of the Ring, an immortal child of a forgotten race was found among the ruins of her slaughtered people and raised by the Kharvûrak-a wandering nation of free Orcs, proto-Uruks, and exiles led by the cursed lovers Thrakhar and Eirlys. That child would become Vaelyra Vaerûn, the legendary Ashborn, chieftess of the Kharvûrak and protector of the forgotten.
When Saruman betrays her people on the eve of the War of the Ring, Vaelyra and the remnants of her warband are rescued by Rivendell and drawn into the fate of Middle-earth itself. There she meets Elowen Elariel Dúnedhel, an ancient Half-Elven Ranger sworn by an oath older than kingdoms to serve the heirs of Isildur.
As the Fellowship journeys toward Mordor, an unexpected bond forms between the warrior raised among monsters and the Ranger descended from kings. Together they must unite the races of Middle-earth-and the peoples long cast aside by it-against the growing darkness of Sauron.
From the halls of Rivendell to the walls of Helm's Deep, from the fields of Pelennor to the Black Gate itself, old enemies will stand side by side as one. But when peace finally comes and two queens rise to rule a new kingdom born from hope, Vaelyra and Elowen discover a truth even older than Middle-earth:
Their souls have loved each other before. In another world. Another life. And this time, they have been given a second chance. A sweeping epic of war, redemption, destiny, and a love strong enough to survive across worlds and ages.
