For nineteen-year-old Mallory Pritchard, surviving her high school years would have been completely impossible without her best friend, Lars Ulrich. But while Lars is busy building the foundations for his up-and-coming thrash metal band, Metallica, Mallory is fighting a silent battle to survive a volatile home life. When the band desperately needs a new bassist to keep their dreams alive, they find their saviour in Cliff Burton-but there's a catch: Cliff won't leave San Francisco. For Lars, it's a massive relocation. For Mallory, it's the perfect, long-awaited excuse to pack her life into cardboard boxes and permanently escape Los Angeles. But as the band uproots to the Bay Area, Mallory quickly realizes that leaving her hometown doesn't mean leaving conflict behind. Stranded in a new city, she must deal with clashing egos, musician drama, and a complex relationship with the very bassist she has to live with.

uhh hiii So in this fanfic lars has a sister, rachel, and the guys always ship her and kirk and everytime they see them together thah just joke about them being together, the thing is, kirk doesn't know if lars is okay with him dating rachel. In here, they are childhood friends, they took a break from living all together, it was supposed to be just a week, but something happened and they stayed for much longer at kirk's house with his mom and sister..until they decided to get back to the metallica mansion.
