The sixty-ninth entry of the 2022-2023 Film Journal features "Dick Tracy". Here, I take a brief look at what I took away from this distinct piece of 1990s cinema forgotten and beloved by many different folk for thirty-years

Usually, in life, you are faced with things that scare you. Whatever these things in life are you always have to try and overcome those challenges no matter what because they make you stronger afterward and it's always good to have someone that can help you through those hard times. The Martin twins; Kenny burned by fire, Keith nearly drowned by water. How will they learn to overcome these fears, what lies in wait for them when they overcome these fears and will they be able to face the challenges that come after? Follow them as they learn how to turn fear into power and change the world around them knowing that together they can do anything.

Given the wild ride that can be described as Bedrock Dray (Shade) has seen a lot. He's fought gangs, villains, monsters, secret organizations, and even demons. Aspiring to do the right thing in spite of the circumstances on one hand he's as good as any hero you could hope for. On the other hand, spite is sometimes his entire identity. Beginning his second semester of sophomore year other than the usual things are relatively quiet. School is going well, he's got the girl and he's still racking up victories as well as defeats.
