Allison Deschamps has gone through so many sports. First it was dance, then gymnastics, then swimming, then soccer. All of which she quit after at least a year. Now in high school, Allison is on the search to find a sport to commit to. One that is fairly easy to do and definitely one that doesn't involve running. I was 13 when my dad picked me up from dance class, drunk. All I remember was I got in the truck and he started swerving all over the road, then he hit a car... My arm, I could barely move since, it's technically paralyzed but nothing else, but I didn't quit dancing, I want to show people that despite my arm, I can do whatever I want.

Dance is an art and art is genderless. Who are we to judge how and who should express themselves? Being a male belly dancer is not an easy decision, especially in the society where masculinity is the only norm for men and anything else is considered feminine. But still, at the end, let's hope this changes and only the dance could be judged not the gender of performer or the dance form. Let's hope for acceptance... someday it will come true.
