Dean was just raised from perdition (Hell), he didnt know why he was saved but he was. He later met Castiel, who told him the reasons why he was saved. Dean hated Castiel, because why would he, or any angel let bad things happen to good people. He never had any faith in angels or god. Dean and Castiel start being friends, and later on down the line, Dean starts to develop feelings for Castiel but pushes them down because his father always taught him a man should not be with a man and a woman should not be with a woman

Not even when it drags you to the darkest pit of Hell. Problem is, someone rescued him from that Hell. Not a demon, not a monster; but an angel. He has dark hair, blue eyes, and a pair of black wings. His name is Castiel, and someone's asked him to bring Dean back to life. And as Dean's world slowly falls apart, he has to come to terms with the fact that Castiel might not just be the proverbial angel on his shoulder, but something more. Something dangerous, unholy. Something Dean is too frightened to even say out loud. Until, eventually, everything crumbles, leaving him to fend off unwanted feelings and a devastating heartbreak.

When Jack makes a choice that bends the balance of creation itself, Castiel returns from the Empty and the story begins again. Season 16 follows what comes after the ending that never should have been. Hunts return to the road, old wounds refuse to stay buried, and the bunker slowly fills again with something it almost lost: family. For Dean and Cas, it is also the season where silence finally breaks, where the words once left unsaid finally find their way home, and where love becomes something neither of them has to hide.
