People who get abused frequently by their same-gender partner feel afraid of coming out about their sexual orientation or the nature of their relationship. But there are a few characteristics specific to LGBT domestic abuse. Threatening to Reveal: It can be challenging for the abused partner to get help because LGBT groups are frequently hidden and rely on friends and relationships within the local community. This is worse for victims, especially those who are living in smaller towns and rural locations. Fear is the main aspect that stops victims from coming out of this unhealthy relationship.
