Only then did Chase glance my way, his steely, forest, green eyes trained on the target--the target being me instead of the burly man in front of him. He threw a quick air kiss my way, followed by a wink and a smile.
“You sure got him wrapped around your finger, Missy.” Jim stated, a low whistle escaping his cracked lips. “So, how long you two been going steady?”
I looked over at Jim’s aging face, raising an eyebrow in curiosity, “You want a truthful answer?” With a nod in reply, I laughed uneasily, “He doesn’t like me that way.”
“Well, in my eyes, I see something changing in him. It’s plain as day.”
My heart started to beat a mile a minute, “Oh?”
“Yeah, and it’ll be the first time the bad boy loses the fight.”
