In a world built on order by factions, identity was easy to lose. Born into one of five groups, teenagers were shaped by the way of life they were assigned-Erudite, Candor, Amity, Abnegation, and Dauntless. Each lived by its own rules, its own purpose, its own version of what it meant to be good. And above all else, there was one truth no one was allowed to forget: faction before blood.
For a time, there was peace. Laughter carried through the green fields of Amity, where hands were always ready to help those who stumbled. Every gesture, every choice, every life seemed to fit neatly into the world's design.
But that peace never lasted forever.
It ended the moment Thessaly stepped forward for her choosing ceremony.
She had always believed she belonged with the kind and compassionate-Amity felt like home in every way that mattered. But belief and truth were not always the same thing. And now, standing before the crowd, she wondered what would happen if her blood met the bowl of grey stones. Water? Glass? Lit coals? Something she could never have imagined?
Now, Thessaly must face her truth and choose.
Soon, she will learn what the test has already revealed-but the real question is whether she trusts the system that defined her... or the voice she's never fully learned to ignore: her own heart.
