All her life, Christina George had been taught how to live like a perfect lady. Perfecting house chores, lessons on femininity, being easy and submissive to the male world, preserving her beauty, and being house-oriented. But her life changed when her mother died of tuberculosis. Her destiny removed her from the shelter of her house in Peacham, under her mother's shade, and placed her in the cold Welton Academy, where everywhere she looked, there were boys whom she was not supposed to be near.
Her father, Mr. George, who has always been far from his family for the sake of his career, wanted her daughter to be a doctor before she would marry so that she would not have to depend on a man. Already abandoned by one parent, Christina feared that if she didn't walk on her father's path, she would be abandoned by her other parent, too.
What happens when a guy named Charlie, who seemed like a perfect candidate for her marriage falls in love with her, but he despises conformity as much as Christina loves it?
