Alex and Connor became friends in time out when in 2nd grade. By senior year, Alex was in jazz band and had a 3.9 GPA. Connor on the other hand, put the high in school and couldn't get through a month without getting a detention. (His record was 3 weeks and 2 days.) Yet they're still friends, for now at least. A story in which Evan falls and Connor offers to go with him. (I found this picture on google, and I have no idea whose it is. I take no credit for it whatsoever.) A Dear Evan Hansen Royalty AU. Connor didn't like his life at all, he was constantly yelled at by his parents, his tutors spent all their time telling him to act properly and his sister was constantly disappointed in him. It didn't help that he was a prince and therefore was expected to constantly be on his best behaviour. Luckily Larry had somehow managed to convince the country that Connor was in boarding school in an effort to keep him out of the public eye, and it worked (that was one thing that Larry had done right). So, Connor didn't worry about his image, not that he would have anyway, he just did what he wanted. What he wanted was to get as far away from reality as he could, so he got high. When he wasn't high he was drunk and when he wasn't drunk he was asleep. For Evan it is different, he is always nervous, always scared, always anxious and he doesn't know how to stop, so he hides away instead. He just keeps in the background or tries to at least. His therapist is always saying he should put myself out there more, but he never can. He always gets nervous and start worrying about how sweaty his hands are. Trigger Warnings: Suicidal thoughts, self harm, drugs, alcohol

They're both considering the fact that they'll never meet there soulmate and never get to experience the joy of color, and live their lives in monotone. They begin their final year of high school thinking that nothing ever is going to change, until they suddenly see color that is blinding.
