After a overnight stay in a house at the bottom of the mountain they live on, thirteen year old girl Sumiko Kamado returns home to discover her five siblings, twelve year old triplets Nezuko, Takeo and Hanako, eleven year boy Shigeru and ten year old boy Rokuta, all dead in the snow with their parents Tanjuro and Kie both missing. While Sumiko is trying to find out what she should do, her five siblings are revived as demons and tackle her to the snowy ground. However, her life is saved when young man Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who leads a ancient organization known as the Demon Slayer Corps, hauls the five newly turned demons off her and helps her get up off the snowy mountain ground.

Volume 2 of Demon Slayer: The Ice Hashira is not a sequel. This volume is a collection of fragments, side stories, and moments that existed outside the main narrative. From quiet days in the Taishō era to distant echoes a hundred years later, these chapters explore what was never shown: off-screen conversations, alternate universes, light-hearted scenes, experimental concepts, and "what ifs" that don't belong to a single timeline. Some stories are canon-adjacent. Some are entirely non-canon. Some exist purely for fun. This volume is meant to wander. To linger. To visit moments that didn't fit-but still mattered.

Two years and a month after the death of her abusive husband Kyogo, widowed woman Shizu Shinazugawa bumps into healthy charcoal merchant Tanjuro Kamado, his wife Kie and their six children, thirteen year old girl Sumiko, eight year old triplets Nezuko, Takeo and Hanako, six year old boy Shigeru and five year old boy Rokuta, at sunset and they go with the widower to her home, where she introduces them to her seven children Sanemi, Genya, Sumi, Teiko, Hiroshi, Shuya and Koto. While asleep in the home late that night, both families wake up after sensing the demon king's presence outside the house's doors. Tanjuro and Kie choose to stay behind to fend the demon king off for as long as possible while Genya, Hanako, Hiroshi, Koto, Nezuko, Shizu, Sanemi, Sumiko, Shuya, Sumi, Shigeru, Takeo, Teiko and Rokuta escape unharmed. This results in the couple being captured, taken to a building and imprisoned in it the fourteen people later being found and brought right to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters for their safety by some demon slayers. Four years later, Nezuko, Takeo and Hanako, all three of who are now twelve, Shigeru, who is now ten, Rokuta, who is now nine, Sumi and Teiko have recently become demon slayers and Shizu, Hiroshi, Shuya and Koto have all recently become medics while Sumiko and Sanemi, the two of whom are now seventeen, are now powerful Demon Slayer Corps members alongside his combat partner and lifelong friend Masachika Kumeno, having both been recruited by the organization's leader two whole years after being brought to its headquarters alongside Genya, Hanako, Hiroshi, Koto, Nezuko, Shuya, Shizu, Shigeru, Sumi, Takeo, Teiko and Rokuta.

On their way home from the town at the bottom of the mountain they live on with their family in late December 1908, twenty one year old Saki Kamado and her older sister, twenty three year old Cybele, bump into the demon king, who badly injures them and gives his blood to the young women, causing them to fall to the ground and black out when he leaves. They make their way up the smooth mountain path to their home the next morning. After getting home, they open the front door and the sisters' six younger siblings, eight year old sextuplet children Nezuko, Takeo, Hanako, Daichi, Shigeru and Rokuta, and their parents, healthy forty five year old married couple Tanjuro and Kie, are stunned to see them as demons with their memories and voices intact and a immunity to the sunlight. A little over four years later, this is discovered by the wind pillars Sanemi Shinazugawa and Masachika Kumeno, both of whom are also lifelong friends, when they see the sisters enter the family's small mountaintop home at sunrise. This leads to a intense battle at the end of which they knock out both Saki and Cybele and return with the sisters to the headquarters of the organization they are members of after hauling the two demonized women over their shoulders.

As a result, Sumiko, who is twenty, Nezuko, Takeo & Hanako, who are all fifteen, Shigeru, who is thirteen, and Rokuta, who is twelve, spend the next five years fighting against demons at night to become stronger through each kill they make with Sumiko living with the Rengoku family in their manor, Nezuko living with the love pillar Mitsuri Kanroji, Takeo and Hanako living with the sisterly trio Kanae Kocho, Shinobu Kocho and Kanao Tsuyuri, Shigeru living with the wind pillars Sanemi Shinazugawa and Masachika Kumeno and Rokuta living with the serpent pillar Obanai Iguro. During the following five years, the six siblings eventually each find love with Sumiko and Kyojuro falling in love with one another soon after she takes his place as the flame pillar after a year and a half, Takeo falling in love with Kanao, young Thunder breathing user Zenitsu Agatsuma falling in love with Nezuko, Sanemi's younger brother Genya falling in love with Hanako and Shigeru and Rokuta falling in love with Sanemi and Genya's two younger sisters Sumi and Teiko three weeks after being introduced to them.
