A country boy from rural Sicily and a city girl from Toronto end up falling in love with each other, despite at first having seemingly nothing in common.
One was born and raised in the countryside, where time goes by slowly, and the loudest noise you ever hear is birds chirping and grandpa's rooster waking you up at dawn to start working at the farm, tending to the crops and animals.
The other was a certified city girl, having grown up in Toronto, used to doing plenty of shopping and going to concerts all the time, while being stuck in traffic every day to go to University, where she studies to become a doctor.
And yet, during a trip to Sicily in search of her roots, Mary ends up meeting and even falling in love with Enzo, who resembles her own grandfather a lot when he was young, before he moved to Canada in search of a better life.
The two would end up meeting each other one fateful day in Palermo, while she's roaming around the city, trying to understand where to find the apartment she's supposed to stay at for the following month.
She would end up asking for directions from this young man who looked as if he had just come out of a painting from the 1900's, and that's where Enzo and Mary's almost impossible love story begins.
Will they set their differences aside and keep their relationship going? Or will it inevitably end due to different dreams and goals in their respective lives?
