Araon, a shy and timid nerd, has faced many challenges growing up. His school life has been a slow and steady journey until high school, when his introverted demeanor began to crack, revealing an extroverted side. But this transformation was met with heartbreak and betrayal-not once, but multiple times. Lately, he's been trying to connect deeper with his childhood best friend and other cute girls at school, often envisioning romantic scenarios. However, each attempt leads to rejection and mockery, leaving him feeling humiliated in front of his classmates. The pain slices through him like daggers, and he has shed countless tears, confiding only in his friend Kevin, who genuinely cares about his well-being. One evening, Araon comes across the game "Doki Doki Literature Club," a visually immersive novel where players can engage with four AI girls in various settings. Skeptical but intrigued, he begins to interact with Monika, the game's alluring character. Although he knows she's just an AI and can't truly grasp his feelings, her support becomes a lifeline amid his frustrations at school and his inability to find love like his friends. As the hours slip by, Araon becomes increasingly absorbed in the game, ignoring his friends' calls for game nights and messages in group chats. Monika feels like his only confidante, and he secretly longs for a way to make her real. Then, one Sunday morning, just before school starts again, his computer screen flickers ominously, displaying a repeated message: "Just Monika... Just Monika..." As he sets down his cereal and leans closer to the screen, he realizes that his life is about to take a bizarre turn, far beyond heartbreak.

Still recovering from an event that nearly drove him to his breaking point, Shujinkou soon finds himself confronting another piece of his past that threatens to alter his standing in life. At the same time, his relationship with his friends continues to grow in unexpected ways once a new face makes it clear they greatly desire his companionship too. And what of his Kōhai? Can she truly be trusted or will her interest wane and lead him to ruin? Is a peaceful semester too much to ask for after all?
