The same story, but next stage of their life

Harry breaks up with Ginny again after the war. Ron and Ginny are pissed at him. Hermione stays neutral, but Harry's got severe PTSD and just wants to leave it all behind. He becomes an Animagus - a beautiful Belgian Malinois. He resolves to never switch back and runs out into the wild for years. Draco Malfoy is done with his year in prison and no magic parole, but he choses not to go back to the wizarding world. He still uses magic, but he works at a muggle bank, drives an auto and has a fully furnished muggle home. Then one day... a Belgian Malinois chases a deer across the road... right in front of Draco's car. Draco saves him and takes him home. Hiliarity ensues with Harry trying to escape and annoy Draco Malfoy. But Draco isn't dumb. He starts to realize that his dog... is way too smart for a dog.

Harry and friends are returning to Hogwarts for an 8th year to complete their studies, but the last person he expected to return was Draco Malfoy. Can he put their old rivalry behind them and start anew? Draco has been dealing with his own struggles since the war, and finds himself in a very dark place when Harry Potter, of all people, comes back into his life. Can he offer what Draco desperately needs - a friend, or maybe more? This is the story of two boys working through old bitterness, sexuality, mental health, and new foes amidst the end of the war and their return to Hogwarts. Author's Note: This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers, with a lot of angst but a decent amount of fluff too, more of a plot than just the romance and a happy ending (trust me). Relationships are Harry x Draco, Ron x Hermione, and Pansy x Blaise. Updates will be regular because it's all already written out, and I will be publishing on AO3 at the same under the same name. This is my first fanfic so all support is appreciated!

Draco Malfoy spent years pretending he didn't care. That hating Harry Potter was easy. But when fate forces them into each other's orbit during the Triwizard Tournament, everything shifts. What starts with rivalry turns into something quieter - glances held too long, secrets shared too late, and a love neither of them expected but both desperately need. Enemies to something more. "You know what I think?" Harry leaned across the table. "I think you're afraid. You don't take risks like us Gryffindors." He scoffed. "Please, you Gryffindors are all wand-waving and no spell." Harry grinned, settling back into his seat. "Not me. I always follow through." "Prove it." Harry stood up and walked around the table. He leaned over Draco, one hand no his chair and the other on the table. Their faces were a mere inch apart, so close that Draco could see flecks of brown in his emerald eyes. "I don't see any follow-through," Draco taunted. And then Harry kissed him. Harry's hands fell to his shoulders so quickly that Draco teetered on his seat. Draco reached up and grabbed Harry's shirt in an attempt to catch his balance which resulted in the two boys falling to the ground with Harry on top. Harry's cheeks were red with embarrassment as he tried to get up. All he managed to do was knee Draco in the leg. Draco put his hands on Harry's hips. "Stop. Let me." In one fluid motion, Draco flipped them around so he was kneeling above Harry. "And for future reference," Draco smirked, bringing his lips down to brush against his. "I'm always on top."

The war is over, classes have started back accident takes place when Neville's potion goes wrong and exploded on Harry. Harry, now 5 years old with some new, unexpected furry appendages is to be taken care of by none other than Draco Malfoy. Now Draco has to protect Harry from memories of the past while dealing with new found affections. Will he be able to juggle his problem while dealing with an angst ridden friend? DMHP. I don't like to spoil anything so if these things are triggering or you just don't like anything, it might be best for you to look for another story. I will do my best to warn you of anything of the sort. The first thirteen chapters are just going to be copy-and-pasted though.
