Basil was flipping through the pages of her book. When she glanced up she noticed the light from her lamp created shadows that danced on the walls. She stopped and stared at them with a distant gaze. CRASH Basil quickly snapped out of being entranced by the flame in her lamp. She snapped her head to her green bedroom door. "Pops?" Basil called out. "Ahhhh!" Her grandfather cried out. Basil could hardly breathe in fear as she jumped to her feet to see what the commotion was about. She burst out her room and ran through the hallway to the living room. The window was smashed open, books, ink and shelves were scattered on the floor. Basil ran to the window while avoiding the glass. "POPS!" She cried out. She had her head out the window, her eyes stung and her heart was pounding. Pops was no where in sight and as far as Basil thought...
