Violet Diamond is a smart, funny and curious little girl who isn't afraid to speak her mind, except when it comes to that, Violet has a lot of questions she would like answered. She's brown-haired and brown-eyed in a family of blonds, since her mom is white and her dad, who died before she was born, was black. She's extremely tired of people asking if she's adopted. And at her mostly white school, she sometimes feels like a brown leaf on a pile of white snow.
What makes it more difficult is that Violet has never met the black side of her family. So she decides it's time to learn about her African American heritage. But reclaiming her dad's side of the family isn't easy at first , because it means contacting a grandmother who's even trie to meet her.
