Hawkins is a small midwestern town located in Roane County in the US state of Indiana, positioned about 80 miles outside of Indianapolis. It has an estimated population of 10,000 to 15,000. Hawkins is a largely quiet and uneventful town with the last major incident being a triple homicide in 1959. The greatest point of interest was the secretive Hawkins National Laboratory, one of several national laboratories which grew out of the scientific endeavors of the Second World War. Unbeknownst to the residents of the town, the lab hosted experiments for the controversial government program known as "MKUltra". These experiments yielded the births of a number of children with inherited psychokinetic abilities, who were in turn abducted and experimented on. When Eddie's mom demands he goes to live with his aunt - after the only streak of rebellion he's ever participated in - he's afraid he won't have any friends, or that his aunt Bethany will be even worse than his mother. But he's quite shocked when she's quite possibly the nicest person ever. So nice that she lets one of the neighborhood kids stay with her and her family if his home situation gets bad. Richie has never had the best homelife. After everything blows up one night, his neighbor is kind enough to open him with open arms. He doesn't have any friends, and it doesn't help that Bowers and his goons harass him at school. At least schools out.

A fanfic where after Eddie's "death" his body is brought back to Hawkins hospital and he's left in a coma for the rest of S4 and S5. Everything that happens in ST5 occurs the same except Dustin visits Eddie's trailer (Uncle Wayne has moved to a different trailer) to grab what's left of Eddie's music for himself and that's where Andy and his jock friends attack Dustin, making him late to the run. When the Demodogs attack the hospital Eddie's body is safe as Vecna doesn't care about Eddie. The fic begins as Vecna/Henry dies. Canon-rewrite.
