"𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒙 𝒚𝒐𝒖."
Anaya Mishra has everything going for her: the looks, the money, the education, the perfect life, according to many. What more could she ask for?
Her mother, a well renowned designer in the world of fashion, with her fusion of South Asian and Western culture making its splash in markets, and her father a leading entrepreneur in the tech industry, determined to make tech accessible for all. They're good people and more importantly good parents. Now all she has to do is meet her parent's expectations. Can't be that hard, right? Well, given that her older brother has far surpassed any expectations they had for him, all she has to do is surpass those.
Yet Anaya has next to no clue what she wants to do after A-Levels. She picked what she enjoyed - English Literature, Philosophy, Politics and Sociology - not what makes a good career. And with the added pressure of all that comes with being a Year 13 at Lindenhurst Academy, nothing feels right. Ma's pushing for her to continue ballet, Abba's suggesting politics, Bhai says to do what she wants. But she hates ballet, politics is ruthless and all she really wants to do is write her songs. But she can't do that, not in their world.
And then there's Wylan Colbert, the exact antithesis of Anaya in every way. He has the looks (he's been told), and the education since Lindenhurst gave him the scholarship. But that's where the similarities end.
He doesn't have time for frivolities like she does. Hobbies are a no, friends are a no, relationships an even bigger no. He has far bigger things to be concerned about - i.e: protecting his younger siblings from their father's vicious beatings.
All he wants is some sleep at the end of his days.
His routine aside from school consisted of bussing tables at a bistro and on the weekend, working at the auto shop in town, studying for his A-Levels (Biology, Chemistry , Maths and Physics) in between.
