Shou sat on a damp rock, kicking his heels and watching the fog curl around the trees. It was quiet tonight, until he heard the chirrup. Then another. Then a dozen, weaving together like a strange, wet song.
The frogs were singing, but it wasn't their song. Above them, flickering in the branches, the June Wizards spun light into the air. Each note from the frogs flared brighter until the forest floor glowed like a festival ground.
"Too loud," Shou whispered. "Someone will notice."
A single Wizard, wings crackling with faint green light, drifted down to hover before his nose. It bowed, as if to say: That is the point.
