Unsolved Life Experience

Have you ever heard a scream that shook you to the core? It is the most horrifying thing you can imagine when you don't know who is screaming and why. One night as I was sleeping, I was awoken by a pitch that pierced my ears, nearly to the point of pain. Even in the worst horror shows, I had never heard such a sound. There wasn't any time to investigate it, because it only came once, with an abrupt end. That was the most horrifying part... that it ended so sudden. You know what it sounds like if you hear a dog that's been hit or kicked and it comes quickly, then it's over? That's what it was, but the loudest scream pierced my ears. I jumped from the bed so fast that I ran into the wall behind me. I immediately began clinging to the wall as if I could go through it. My heart sped up so fast that it hurt. There's one thing it told me though. It confirmed that I wasn't alone there.

The last thing she remembered was the sound of his laughter echoing down the hallway as she took her final, labored breath. Darkness enveloped her, cold and suffocating, dragging her down into oblivion. And then, nothing.

In the heart of the dense, unforgiving jungle, the wind whispered through the towering trees, carrying with it the sound of soft, heart-wrenching sobs. The girl, no older than seventeen, sat hunched over on the cold, damp ground. Her clothes were tattered, clinging to her thin frame as though they were the only things left holding her together. Her long, dark hair was matted with dirt and leaves, blending with the shadows around her.
