Inspired by the #endbadgovernment protest, I wrote this short story from the point of view of an old man simply providing for his family and still trying to do what's right despite the consequences.

..."I will be a goddess,my words and actions will-be law. Anything I do will have no consequence, you just watch and when I get it". I was baffled and could hardly control my expression when he hailed her "my one and only, adumadan, awokilumo" I shook my head in pity of their ignorance and thirst for power which went unknown to the other on my table... who practically promise to use their hands and legs to build their nations have not learnt any lesson from their past "heroes" as they rule with greed on their shoulders.

A short story inspired by the October 20, 2020 events in Nigeria. This is a poem about social injustice and faint hope. It's born out of the pain of the Lekki massacre that took place on the 20th October 2020 when soldiers on the order of the government shot and killed unarmed citizens who held the flag and sang the national anthem and who were on a peaceful protests. The pain and horror of that day will forever be imprinted on the heart and history of the Nigeria republic.
